Terms of Service
These terms cover use of HackerTube, its public video catalog, account features, and optional Pro purchase.

The service
HackerTube helps people discover videos that have been discussed or recommended on Hacker News. Video playback and video content are provided by YouTube and their respective uploaders. HackerTube does not own those videos and is independent from YouTube, Google, Hacker News, and Y Combinator.
Accounts and saved preferences
You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping access to your sign-in email secure. Use only profile information and account connections that you are authorized to access. You may disconnect optional sources and remove imported YouTube watch-history data using the controls provided in the service.
Pro purchase
Pro is offered as a one-time purchase for US$4.90. It is not a recurring subscription and does not automatically renew. Stripe displays the applicable checkout details before payment. After Stripe confirms a successful payment, HackerTube activates the Pro features for the purchasing account. A Checkout page or return redirect alone does not activate an entitlement.
Public data and third-party services
The catalog and annotations are provided under the license described on the Open data page. Hacker News comments remain their authors' work. YouTube videos, thumbnails, and account data are governed by YouTube and Google terms. Stripe, Clerk, and Cloudflare provide parts of the service under their own terms.
Acceptable use and availability
Do not interfere with the service, attempt to access another person's account, or use the service in a way that violates applicable law or a third-party platform's terms. We may change or suspend features to maintain the service, respond to security issues, or comply with law. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or that every external video will remain accessible.
Disclaimers and changes
HackerTube is provided for discovery and informational purposes. Recommendations are editorial signals from public discussion, not guarantees about a video's accuracy, safety, or continuing availability. We may update these terms as the service changes. The current version and update date appear on this page.
